I no longer have a Wurker splicer so these are now surplus to my requirements.

There are three packs remaining of Wurker Duoplay 2 splicing tapes - ideal for stereo and twin track prints as both the main and balance stripe remain uncovered when using these tapes.

For use with a Wurker splicer and some other models.

The price is £4 per pack plus postage extra depending on your location.

Payment is by PayPal only please.

Still available - £20 plus postage for SIX packs - most cine dealers sell them for £7+ per pack - anyone out there using Wurkers or are we all on CIR splicers these days?

I have to say Kevin, I'd never go back to perforated tape splices again now, having sampled the huge benefits of the C.I.R. splice.

Me neither Andrew I've used CIR splicers for what seems like forever across all the gauges I collect - 8mm, Super 8, 16mm & 35mm - however...... these Wurker stereo splice tapes are not perforated at all - once applied the backing is removed to leave a patch on either side of the film frame that does not cover the perfs or either soundtrack - hence they were the choice of collectors wishing to permanently make up features onto longer spools with no sound dropout on either main or balance stripe.

Perhaps I should just list them on Ebay for £5 per pack instead? - I'll leave the £20 for six offer on here for a few more days to see what happens.

Yes I remember these splices being particularly recommended for those splicing Stereo films.

I use a Wurker and consider these the best and hardest to spot splices I've ever used. I think they also beat a CIR partly because (if I remember rightly) CIR 8mm splices wrap around the sprocket edge, causing a brief sideways move when the splice goes through the gate. But someone would need to be making quite a lot of splices to be able to use such a quantity. I've regretted obtaining a large stock on a couple of occasions because Wurker splices lose their adhesive qualities after a few years, although that does NOT happen once they are applied to films.

Kevin - can you estimate how old these ones are?

I have no idea how old these are Adrian - I have accumulated so much excess cine kit I really can't remember - however the original box that contained the five full packs has a label printed with 21.107 on the box flap which may mean 2007 - purely a guess though - the sampled ones from the original box of ten packs are still sticky as I had a few odd ones here I recently used up.

If it helps I will sell them on here for £4 per pack but postage will still be extra - at least this way no one will be expected to buy a lifetime supply!

I also use similar tapes, namely hama which do leave the soundtrack clear, i also cut ours into two so it literally cover two frames like the cir and i cant say i have ever had a problem. I did buy the fuji (cir type splice) back along with two rolls of tape which i will soon be listing as i am so use to the older style i can't get on with it,

Hello Tom

Just one thing to check - I think you will find the Hama tapes only leave the main stripe track tape-free - as they wrap around the perforation edge of the film thus covering the balance stripe. These Wurker stereo tapes do not cover either the main or balance stripes.

I've witnessed the "budget" version of this type of splice before now.

It too leaves both main and balance stripe exposed for smooth soundtrack transitions. Also no need to buy any special splicer as most people already have a stapler to use with staples!! [Mad]

No kidding i've seen this method used on more than one occasion on the films that have previously arrived with me!

You couldn't make it up, could you??

That is the nightmare scenario Andrew - it's always so important to manually check used films I know and if one of those staples got into the projector gate I don't like to consider what could happen.

Kevin - OK, if they are working fine, I'll take two packs, please, partly because I have a spare Wurker to sell, so it would be nice to offer it complete with a pack of tapes!

Andrew - staples sound great, particularly for polyester prints that should ensure no tears - and they may even help to clear debris from the film path - but I think we should warn serious collectors that they should only be used for leaders, as they will be visible when passing through the gate! [Cool]
