If I didn't already have one Stuart,I'd have jumped at this chance here at a very good price may I add!
I love mine to be honest and really glad I have made the switch from the Agfa F8S recently.
The F8S is an exceptionally decent and fast action automated splicer, and one I won't ever part with, but if you use Filmguard,the adhesive strength of the modern available tapes is nowhere near as strong as the strength of the adhesive used on Jackro rolls of spice tape.Some of these tapes must have been manufactured years ago judging by their adhesive strength, or lack of, as is all too apparent!
I was on occasions, having to revisit splices made and while no harm could ever be caused on the projectors I use by these tapes becoming detached... it was a nuisance on occasions having to run a reel again because a splice has become detached.
Since switching a good few months back now, I've had no such issues with the manual splices.
It takes a few seconds longer but the results are staggeringly improved when you use a pressure roller on the finished splice, as I do when using both methods.
A combination of both here is also advantageous for speeding the manual splice method up a little.
The F8S makes very light work of gaining a quick a highly accurate butt join. I sometimes, on occasions when I'm doing a fair amount of splicing work, use the F8S to create the joints, then the CIR Deluxe to make the splices with.
A winning combination when there is much to do!😊
