This is a really fun Walt Disney Silly Symphony cartoon that I saw for the first time at CineSea in April 2015. I have looked for it ever since and finally snapped up a print from Steve Osborne's lists last week.

This "Silly Symphony" Cartoon is pegged on the film stars of the 1930s, all as characters in the Mother Goose story. They include, Katherine Hepburn (as "Little Bo Peep" - rallee she is); Charles Laughton, Spencer Tracy, and Freddie Bartholemew as the Three Men in a boat (Laughton is Captain Bligh, Tracy is Manuel from CAPTAIN'S COURAGEOUS, and Freddie is David Copperfield); Hugh Herbert as Old King Cole, Ned Sparks as his "merry" Jester, Groucho, Chico, and Harpo Marx as his fiddler three, Stan Laurel as Simple Simon and Oliver Hardy as the pie-man; Eddie Cantor as Little Jack Horner, and his four and twenty blackbirds include Cab Calloway, Fats Waller, Wallace Beery as Little Boy Blue; Greta Garbo as Marjorie Daw, taught a lesson by Edward G. Robinson; and at the conclusion they have Fred Astaire (unfortunately dancing alone), Zazu Pitts, Edna Mae Oliver and Mae West playing horns (Oliver Hardy and Stan Laurel and the Marx Brothers also return playing instruments, and we see George Arliss playing a saxophone and Clark Gable on another instrument), and it all ends with Martha Raye('the big mouth') and Joe E. Brown dancing and kissing.

A really fun little film for fans of 1930's cinema, and a great program opener. My print is a Derann print on low fade stock, great color, contrast, and sharpness, excellent sound. I am delighted with it and it's definitely a keeper.

***** Highly recommended

Great find Paul and it'd be even more enjoyable if you'd post us a video of your actual print in run on Vimeo or You Tube if you have an account.

I love seeing the real actual footage of these things myself.

Hi Paul,

Great short, great print, I love it (I am fond of "Silly Symphonies", the very best from Disney from my opinion)!!!

Hi Paul - what a fantastically enjoyable film.

I remember seeing I think it was a Bugs Bunny cartoon (?) on TV in my childhood where there were also caricatures of many of the Hollywood stars of the 30/40's.

I will have to add that one and your recent purchase to my 'wish-list'!

Ali.
