I collect trailers (mainly horror/fantasy) and I finally got round to spooling a couple on 16mm that I obtained on cores a while back. When handling one - a trailer to 'The Sixth Sense' I suddenly noticed three jagged cuts, about 1mm wide, extending about half an inch from the edge of the core towards the centre. I was momentarily puzzled, then the awful truth hit me: right in my hand was evidence of man's appalling inhumanity to 16mm film - just as chilling as any moment in 'The Sixth Sense'! I quickly unspooled the start of trailer and was relieved to find that irrespective of whatever film had suffered this terrible fate, at least it wasn't my trailer.
