At last i too own my first 16mm projector, a Bauer P8. Although i haven't come accross any other 16mm projectors in the past so that i can compare, it seems a decent and reliable machine.
Unfortunately a part of the rewind mechanism seems to be missing or broken -although the ebay seller claimed excellent condition- so i would be grateful if someone could send me any photo of the internal or even better a copy of the service manual so that i can look for the mising part-if there's any which i believe is the case! Any tips regarding operation and maintenance by members that own this machine would also be really appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

Hi! I was searching for the P8 service manual too and found this topic... did you find it? I have the same problem.

Thanks

service manual itself is not really of great help - beside short comings within electronic circuits.
There are 4 special oils and greases required e.g. min. order quantity 1kg from manufacturer, price approx. 200 Euros, shelf life is only few years. For lubricating you have quite often to dismantle almost all axles and gears in order to clean needle bearings and to regrease them again. This has to be done every 12 to 15 years. If it is not done gears will be damaged, motor draws to much current, overheats circuits and machine gets louder and noisier.
As the axial play has increased, you require different (sizes and thickness) thin steel washers to reduce the clearance.
For reassembling special Bauer tools, jigs and gauges are required. Within the claw mechanics quite often very special spares are required. You will not find them listed in any Bauer service manual. Please note that bearings are often not standard onces (closer tolerances). It can not be seen by looking onto the bearing itself.
To withdraw a needle bearing and to insert the new one, further tools - individual manufactured by the service men - are required.
A lot of important hints and tricks were given to service men during the 3 days workshops at Bauer every year. They are not mentioned in any service manual.
And finally not least many service bulletins kept service men informed on later modification e.g. stronger spring introduced since Sept.1983. Earlier Modells have to be converted to the stronger spring! That means, you have to identify on each incomming projector, wheather it ist already "updated" or not.
So you require all service bulletins as well as the service handbook, too.
If you got them all, you might be able to do a good job.
