I've just noticed that the rubber rollers on my 16CL are getting soft and seem to have picked up a fine coating of dust. A novel form of PTRs I guess [Frown]

Does anybody know where (ideally in the UK) I could buy a replacement set?

I had to get mine from Wittners in Germany in the end.

Or you can get rubber sleeves from "isellprojectorbelts" on Ebay, they work quite well.

Yes Stewart they certainly are. It would be worth you trying AVM in the UK as they were the Elmo agent in the UK. I got some from them a few years back. Details here. Quote the same part numbers as those on the Wittners site as they are the Elmo numbers.

The sleeves from isellprojectorbelts turned up and last weekend I got round to fixing up the rollers.

What a vile job. The original rubber was in a dreadful state and destroyed a new scalpel blade!

I have a confession - I think I tried cleaning the originals with meths about a year ago; that probably set them off [Frown]

When that rubber breaks down it turns into a really horrible sticky black mess. Just like the rubber used on some of the ST1200HD shutter blades. Vile..good description.

Stewart, was it easy to put the new rubbers on and what about the roller with the flanges?

Kevin,

It was straightforward to put the sleeves on, but it took some patience. They're a very (very) tight fit. It didn't help that my cir clip pliers were too big, but a couple of jewelers screwdrivers did the trick.

The flanged one was easy enough. The flange is just a push fit onto the hub of the roller; I put the roller in my vice so that it was suspended by the removable flange and then gave the centre a sharp tap with a punch. (I have a set of them and one just happened to be exactly the right diameter to punch out the centre.) I used the vice to put the flange back when finished.

So that flanged roller is splittable.....I never knew that. As they say you live and learn. [Smile]
