Just saw this.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/EMPIRE-STRIKES-BACK-16MM-COLOR-SCOPE-FILM-WITH-MARK-HAMILL-AND-HARRISON-FORD-/280913847202?pt=US_Film&hash=item4167c523a2

Seems like the stating price of $60 is pretty low. I know it will go higher.

Besides the fade, I wonder if it has any other problems.

Think I'll keep a close watch on this. I'd love to have it. Need to wait and see what the price is in a week. If it's not too outrageous, I may bid. If I win, I'll have to spend a few more bucks to get a 'scope lens for my RCA. [Smile]

Not to mention that you have optical mono sound on 16mm that can't be easily upgraded to stereo/surround or synced to DVD like you sometimes can with Super 8.

Three days to go and only three bids so far. Currently at $136.50. Still in a price range I can afford (sort of). I hope it doesn't go out too far of this world. Either way, I'm going to have to sell more stuff on eBay.

Anyone want to take a guess as to how high this may go?

As for fade, I can live with it. Especially if it keeps the final price lower.

Also, optical sound is what it is. If I wanted stereo suppose I could try to sync it with the pre-Special Edition laserdisc from my Star Wars Definitive Collection box set. Then again, maybe not. It's CAV. I would be stopping the film several times for all that flipping.

It might work with disc 2 from the Limited Edition DVD. That transfer is from the pre-1997 laserdisc.

Of course, instead of going through the possible hassle of sound sync, I could just watch the DVD. It may not be anamorphic or in 7.1 but it is the original version of "The Empire Strikes Back".

The color has fade, but it's not too bad and for a collector, can be lived with, (take a good glass cyan filter and the print will look pretty darned good!).

Osi, I already have a cyan filter waiting. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I will be getting it. It still has a day to go and it's already at $207.50. Still reasonable but getting very close to my limit. Guess we'll see what happens tomorrow.

It ended at $315. No, I did not get it.

I will be getting a new film on 16mm, though. I just won "Mary Poppins". It's not "Star Wars" but is something the whole family will enjoy. It will be the next film I show in my brother's back yard.

As for "Empire", someday. Just not today.

If this title is on super 8mm, although with the same fade, I bet it will be sold around $400sh.
