Do your feed and take-up belts snap without your knowledge, only making their breakage known when you go to run your 16mm Elf?

Have new type belts ever been introduced which won't just snap, and does anyone in the UK supply new belts which will last longer?

Bell & Howells have their problems with breaking-up worm gears, and Elf have their belt problems.

I guess the answer is to stay with Elmos.

Hi Maurice,
Yes they do !! most of the old projectors belts RT RM RST NT models have the same kind of rubber belt. The last models SNT-0 and so on have different flat belt which will last forever.
You can use different kind of rubber belts for Eiki projectors, I think I do have some spare ones for the older models, if I find any will let you know.

Manuel

Many thanks for your very helpful reply.

I have Elfs M1, NT1, NT2, ESL-2 and a newly acquired SNT-1.

Following your comment, I have just checked into the arm of the SNT-1, and as you say, the belt is flat, a blue/green material which looks a bit like cloth, or some similar fibre.

As we English say: "you live and learn".

Hello Maurice,
The SNT models are much more better in many ways from the old one's they have bigger sprocket wheels and placed in a much more better position to keep the film more stable, even the lens and pressure plate sliding movement back to front, makes a difference as regards keeping the film more steady.
Please give me some time and I will find you the two arm belts you need for the RM models, when I do just send me your address and I will post them to you.

Hi, Manuel
How very kind of you. Since looking at my SNT-1 I have looked at my ESL-2 and find that this also has the later wide belt.
I assume they are the same.
