I have just bought an 800' short from eBay and it arrived in a plastic can which had a library sticker which has been superimposed over its original (unknown) library sticker.

I have never heard of them in all my years of exhibiting 16mm. They are/were:- Film Hire Services, 51 King Ecgbert Road, Totley Rise, Sheffield.

Does any member know of this library, and have they ever hired 16mm films from them?

WOW That brings back memories. While I never hired any 16mm (before I had 16mm) from him, I did hire some super 8 films a couple of times. I would say he was a collector hiring his films out to buy new films.

Just run from home location

It was handy for me to visit and hire a few shorts when I did birthday party's.

About 5 years ago I was working on Totley Brook Road, and drove past the end of King Ecgbert Road thinking that rings a bell.
Now I remember why.

I also indulged in my other hobby, model railways, but watching the real ones at the side.

Sorting loads of my old stuff out I wonder if I'll find his old lists?

I love the smell of film in the morning.

There's nothing like nostalgia, very interesting, thank you.

I have just steamed off the label and found the original underneath, it says:-

"This film is the property of the City of Sheffield Education Committee".
