Another minor problem with my "new" 642. Does anyone know a source of the 6 volts 3 watts pilot lamps? They're tubular or "festoon" in shape with contacts at each end similar to old fashioned 12V car interior lamps. I imagine they're the same from the 641 to the 658 and the US 500 series. Thanks.

I believe this will do the trick. It shows the lamp against a measure. Check that it's the right length as the Bell & Howell fitment is fairly long.

Many thanks Maurice. I think the lamp in your link is exactly the same as the old one in my 642 so I have ordered two. Thank goodness for classic car enthusiasts.

The lamps arrived and fitted correctly. They were old unused GEC Osram types sold by Lucas. I certainly recommend JB Vintage Spares:
