Hello everyone!

I was wondering if somebody knows something more about the Philips EL 5000 projector. I am interested in this one, but would like to hear some experiences or thoughts on this machine... Thanks in advance!

Nick. Don't know a great deal about them but from memory they were left handed projection, 1000 watt lamp old style, think the old amp had 3 or 4 knobs on it and they are extremely heavy. Someone else on here will know them better I am sure.

Hello Nick,
with tube amp, nice looking projector.
it has a kind of maltese cross intermittent, requiring special oil.
Donīt use Philips standard cine projector oil!

regards
Josef

Thank you Lee and Josef!
I do like the projector, but have heard that the lamps can do just some 25 hours and have than finished. Is that right?

Almost all "old style" projection bulbs have stated life time of 20 to 25 hours.
If you reduce projection bulb voltage by 5%, life time will be twice (40-50 hrs.).
