Hi going to be be slowly doing up a nice Elmo CL but it needs rollers. Any options in the UK as no way I can manage new from the states.

Is there anyone can do them here, or anyone know of any body please ?

Or anyone know tubing etc please.

I recall a thread describing how someone replaced their rubber rollers by removing the old rubber and putting tubing on the core. I don't remember if it was on this forum or the 16mmfilmtalk forum. Do a search on the forums and you'll likely find the info. If you will be showing films of much value, I would suggest you do a proper fix rather than stop-gap repair that might damage your film.

As I have posted before- an easy fix is to strip the old rubbers off and use 'O' rings to make up the rollers. Make sure the you use O rings of a suitable size so that they can be stretched over the lip of the roller but still sit tightly on the steel roller. The O rings need to thin enough so as not to protrude over the lip of the roller because it is the lip on either edge of the roller that provides the film guide. So make sure that the lip still provides an adequate guide. You will need six to eight O rings on each roller to fill the width. The beauty of this fix is that O rings do not deteriorate like rubber and you don't need to remove the steel rollers to fit them. It worked for me and O rings are plentiful and cheap.

Hi Terry thanks for the advice but I`ve now sold it on for less and cheap to a friend for the amp as there was an issue with the open/ close mechanism as well. They are a lovely machine but do have so many issues sadly.

It was adding up to too much for my arthritic fingers. The take up was OK for trailers but did need the upgrade for proper lengths of film.

Reminded me how nice and quiet they are though, if only they had been done with plastic rollers like the eiki slot loads.

That's a shame, but I know the feeling. Just about every time I fire up an old projector there's something that needs attention. Just the old technology I suppose and the fact that they are getting on in years. Like me!

Hi Terry it was going to be for my eldest when sorted, but I think now he will just share my 16mm here and look for an ST1200 for him as he was very kindly given a lovely Elmo super 8 camera by Kevin C and an Editor ( thanks Kevin )to get him going.

I had that issue with a CL before its a point in the back near the top sprocket that all moves and pivots that goes out of kilter. Once it goes it can be a bugger.
