I was talking to a guy I work with about hobbies, he is a small gauge train enthusiast and a member of a forum that has become very lively and successful over the last couple of years. The membership has increased exponentially and the people registered, represent most parts of the globe.

He was saying that recently, they had noticed a strange phenomenon occurring whereby ex hobbyists, some of whom might have become burnt in the past or didn’t feel that their expertise and experience had been properly recognised, had begun joining the forum, generally under assumed names and then making obscure posts, apparently with a view to upsetting the forums smooth running.

It is sad to think that there are people so bored and discontented with their lives that they feel motivated to undermine other people’s enjoyment of a hobby, but I guess these people do exist, though hopefully not in the cine world – or do they?

As this forum becomes more and more popular and the membership grows, I suppose we should all keep our eyes open for rogue elements just in case the same thing should happen here.

Jealousy is a terrible thing… [Frown]

Just let them try [Wink] Nothing gets past these moderators [Big Grin]

Seriously though, it's a fact of life that you will always get the odd one or two who want to wind up members on a forum for whatever reason.

Trolls are the bane of Internet life!

Something about the anonimity of it that encourages people to let their dark side loose in ways they'd never try in broad daylight.

It'll probably happen someday, and we trust you moderators will usher them to the exit before something nasty is stuck on our screen!

I've just visited the local camera shop to purchase a new 9.5mm projector and was surprised to be told...

Craig, I think John was after the same 9.5mm machine that I have, which has high power 20 watt lighting, a non-zoom lens, and does not require a motor! [Big Grin]
