Looking through some old photos, I came across the only one of us all together and it was taken long ago shows both myself, my better half Yvonne, and April and Steven. When the spare room was built I was under strict instructions not to turn it into a cinema however when I arrived home with some wood I was allowed to build only a small one it was under 4 foot deep, it was when I arrived home with some old seats and more wood thats when I had to do some very quick talking. Behind those smiling faces in the projection box was one GS1200 and a Bell and Howell 642 I bought second hand it was our first 16mm projector and it was very well made. the down side was the lamp in a small space things wood get hot. I think it was a 750watt or 1000watt cant remember but one winter's night as I switched the lamp on we were put into total darkness with only a 15amp circuit breaker for the spare room running a heater and projector it was to much, the rest of the night we used blankets to keep warm.

As the years went buy things were added and in the end it became all to much, it was when Steven who was about 11 yrs old and using a stool to reach up to the 16mm to change the reel slipped and came down hard breaking his wrist I started to think that it had to go. Later on the Ernemann turned up and it was then we built a new projection box and entrance, nothing was wasted and all the old wood went into the new projection box.

I think half the fun is doing things yourself plus its a big saving money wise, had we to employ someone to do the work it would have never have got of the ground, both April and Steven are now grown up and it wasen't until in later years I found out how they used to tell everyone at school and invite there friends round to show them. One good thing about this hobby is that others can get something out of it as well.

Well thats how it looks now I think its time for another get together photo, hopefully this weekend.

Thanks Michael and Trevor, and hope to submit something to it soon, for anyone thinking of a holiday out here away from all that rough weather, we are holding a weekend convention here in Chistchurch in November an ideal time for a bit of film and a holiday at the same time.
