If you are a fan of great instrumental music and in particular "The Shadows" as I am this DVD is fantastic well worth getting it was filmed live in concert in Cardiff 2004. I remember long [Roll Eyes] long ago my brother coming home with "Apache" when it was released on a 45rpm record it was played all the time [Eek!] . Well here is your chance to hear their music recorded in both Dolby Surround 5:1 or DTS Digital Surround Sound, its a far cry from the old 45. I watched it on the VP the picture quality is excellent "16:9" and the concert I think [Roll Eyes] ran close to 3 hours, they played in total an incredible 40 numbers ranging from "Apache" to Equinoxe "part 5" including the theme from "The Dear Hunter" and one of my favourites, Going Home from "Local Hero", Brian Bennett does an amazing solo on the drums "Little B" also included is music from when they were "Marvin, Welch and Farrar", I still have the tape from the early 70s.

With this DVD watch your sub as it can really kick in, or was it my volume that was to loud, [Big Grin] well all I can add is that they never sounded so good of a group that I would consider one of the best.

Graham. [Smile]

PS. has anyone got the Walton release of "Summer Holiday" 1963 with Cliff and The Shadows I had it a few years ago I think it was in Scope and had really nice colour?

I agree Graham, a great concert, from a great instrumental group. I bet you watched it whilst "playing your cricket bat" and doing the "Shadows Three Step" walk? I had the privilidge to see them live at the Odeon Birmingham back in the 70's when they did their first "farewell tour". The atmosphere was electic (just like the guitars [Razz] )

Growing up in Denmark I would listen to the Shadows and the Ventures in the 70es while my classmates dug the hard rock of the period.

Hank Marvin and Co. never tried to make 'art' but their fun tunes made me tap my toes, and they could always be counted on to make you smile with their cheerful (and sometimes surprisingly rocking) material. Of course, with Cliff, that too was very enjoyable, 'Summer Holiday' included (the song is running through my mind as I am typing.)

Because of my love of 50-60es music in general, I managed to earn the reputation of being an 'old fart' and 'out of touch' by my schoolmates, at the ripe old age of 15 (1975) and I am proud to say I still haven't caught up.

Claus.
