Hi all,

Just to let you, that someone from the UK just sent me 2 x 200" of Walton Films (TJ & Three Stooges) with small packet and it was only GBP 4.31. He is very kind to do this without any additional charge (very rare this kind of seller)

The most important thing... it only took 9 days! from West Kirby, Wirral, Merseyside, UK to arrive in Jakarta!

VERY QUICK !!! I believe DHL/UPS or sort of will take the same time but with very high cost!.

It encourages me to buy more 8mm films direct from UK instead of using my brother's UK address which will need to take 2-3 months using sea cargo.

cheers,

Yes Winbert that is the way to send stuff from the UK but it must weigh less than 2kg.

Stuff can arrive in Europe in 2 days by Small Packet Air Mail and as you say the cost is reasonably cheap.

The maximum weight of 2 kgs to Indonesia by Royal Mail Air Small Packet would cost £21.07. Delivery from 5 days.

I`m pretty sure if you get a free proof of postage they are covered up to £34 the cost per penny per £1 if you will of a first class stamp.Certainly to the US and Europe.
That applies to mail in the UK as well.
Not sure on indonesia but may apply anywhere ???
Best Mark.

I have experienced that many UK sellers charge GBP 2.5 for 200" reel for domestic postage. And if I buy 2, the seller will give GBP 1 postage discount. So I end up paying GBP 4 for 2 reels sent to my brother's address in UK.

That's why I am happy with this seller becuase I paid only .31 more and it arrived here in 9 days.

I just wish that a lot of sellers will do his way, i.e using small packet and simply putting the film inside used envelope protected with used hard cardbooard.

Films arrived without any damage!.

Kev, Keith,

Will Royal Mail allow sender using box (not envelope) to send via small packet? Becuase 2 Kg is almost impossible inside an envelope

Last but not least, will Barry of Independet or Paul Foster use small packet? If yes, it is quite possible I am buying from them. How about that Barry?

cheers,

You can send 2x200 in the UK for around £1.10/£1.20 I think second class often.
I was charged £2.20 for a small super 8 trailer would you believe!!!! just UK.Ebay sale.
I`m not sure if you can find on the royal mail website but the proof of postage may cover you winbert up to the £34, I`ll try to find out.
Must admit some of the postages are going bonkers on ebay these days, then you get one or two that stand out as fair as well thankfully.good that you got one of those.
Best Mark.

Winbert,
As long as the weight is under the maximum allowed for small packet postage, then a box is OK. It doesn't literally have to be a "small packet". But, obviously the price will increase as you get closer to the maximum weight, as Keith posted above.

In fact it can be a fairly sizable package as long as it's below that magic 2Kg. I have managed to send complete features on 600ft spools by this method.
