Since this is the General Yak section, I thought I'd write about this groundbreaking anime series.

Though this came out in 1985 in America, it was made before then. I remember seeing this on TV 44 in San Francisco back when I was in the Job Corp in 1985 (I was in the NMU job corp, which was situated on the navy base at Treasure Island, San Francisco), and i saw something that I really hadn't seen in animation before.

I should say that I have never really admired the look of Japanese Anime, (I do like "Cowboy Bebop"), but what sdtruck me was the MATURITY of the story. This first section of the whole ROBOTECH story was 36 episodes with a complete story with a romance in the story that you rarely see even in live action on TV,between Captian Rick Hunter, Lisa Hayes and Lynn Minmei, and this was an animated show!

I bought this whole box set so that my wife could see what I saw twenty years ago, and she really fell in love with it, (she was rooting for Lynn Minmei, I was rooting for Lisa Hayes).

Besides, this wasn't originally made for children, (though this was marketed to ten to sixteen year olds, mostly boys), it was an adult story, complete with drinking, suicide, and main characters that you care about dying. The success they had in this regard is still hard to top to this day.

I would love to see this show comnpletely restored, as these episodes are not restored. I would also love to see the complete original Japanese version of this story, which had a much more adult content to it, not dirty or vulgar, but adult.

Just thought I'd write about ROBOTECH
