As a songwriter, I am fascinated with great song writing.
But I'm also fascinated with "era's" in music.
Era's?
Most definitely.
Every decades styling of music extends a few years into the next decade. For instance, the sounds of the 60's extended well into the 70's in some ways, which was completely eradicated by the advent of disco, somewhere around 1970, which put an end to to "free-lovin" (so to speak) 60's.
What fascinates me even further, it that many groups only released right up to 1970 and then no more, (except in revival albums.
For instance ...
Beatles 1970 Peter Paul & Mary 1970 Sandpipers 1970 Simon & Garfunkle 1970
There are many other examples ...
Is it because the era for that music had ended? Is it because there was a certain mystique to the music of that period, and they themselves saw that very time disappearing, ebbing away ...
Peter Paul & Mary Leaving on a Jetplane
"Well, my bags are packed, I'm ready to go I'm standing here outside your door, I'd hate to wake you up, yo say, goodbye. "
Is it the 60's, departing?
The Sandpipers Come Saturday Morning
"But we will remember, Long after Saturdays Gone ..."
A reminince of the 60's gone by?
The Beatles THE END
"and, in the end, The love you gave (make) is equal to the love ... you made ... (make)
I don't know if the artists above (and so many other) really knew that these would be they're last albums, but you get a sense with many of the releases of 1970, but the big artists of the 60's, that the end of a certain era was there, in they're face.
I was born in 1966, so by all rights, my favorite music era should be the early to mid 80's or so, (a little of the late 70's), but I have always felt my favorite pick was the mid 60's to the mid 70's.
Anyway, I thought it made for a nice post.

Maurice ...
I couldn't possibly list all examples of that change in decades, that would most certainly take a good deal of time, as well as a very bloated post!
Good heavens Dan, I had completely forgotten that you wanted some of me music!
I have a stereo console CDRmusic style burner, (not hooked to computer) that makes great copies, and I'd be more than happy to send you one, if you can, (as the cost for the album) simply mail me some CDRmusic CD's (note: these are NOT the standard CD's used to burn on a computer. I know that Maxell and other companies make them)
... especially my Christmas album, which I have been marketing locally for the first time, with all proceeds going to those suffering in India at this time. lots of people are dying there that you just don't hear about on the network news, (and I'm not talking about Mumbai).
Please write me at my e-mail Dan at:

Remember, we have to be careful with listing e-mail address's!
