I went into a Tesco store the other day, wandered around the DVD counter, and I did the old cartoon double take, I found the Blu-Ray of "Ocean's Eleven" for £3 , yes you read it right £3, then this afternoon I bought two more from ebay for £5.49p (inc. p&p) "The Damned United" & "The International". I know Blu-Ray is getting cheaper, but I think these prices are exceptional, as they are all brand new and sealed, not 2nd hand, can anyone beat me?

I dont think i could beat that, im shopping around for budget dvd`s because im using the logic that the suppliers will want to offload old dvd`s to make room for blue ray this year, also Oceans 13 is my favourite theme tune,David Holmes did a great job to score ol time swing rat pack style. :-)

I can beat that! When I pre-ordered Snow White on Amazon, I had a coupon for so much off (can't remember how much). I did not know that Amazon was having a sale on Snow White where they applied ANOTHER coupon.

The end result was that my total for Snow White on Blu-Ray was...$0.00!

Yep! I got it for free! I've asked around and I seem to be the only one this happened to. I guessing it was a glitch in Amazon's system that they corrected once they realized what happened.

Amazon had another glitch earlier this year where you could get Ghostbusters for $10 using two coupons. They only let the first 50 orders go through, of which one was mine!

As for in stores, the lowest price I've seen for new older titles has been $10. I got Speed last week for that price. So, in that respect you got me beat!

Thomas,

Short of someone sending you money with the movie, "Free" is hard to top. [Big Grin]

I got "Snow White" on the $10 special, but unfortunately, no 'double whammy' for me (have we already reached the point where we are now complaining about $10 Blu-Rays?...)

Claus.

I thought I'd update you all on my latest round of Blu-Ray bargains. I bought off ebay a boxset of 3 Start Trek movies ("Wrath of Khan" - "Search for Spock" & "The Voyage Home") for £12.50p, then yesterday I went on there and got 'The Next Generation' boxset (5 movies) for £22.50p. I don't ask where they have come from, all I can say is when they turn up they are nearly always sealed, but I do wonder sometimes if they may be a little dodgy, still they may be unwanted Christmas presents.

It may only be on DVD, but I bought a 7 disc boxset of "The Thin Man" collectiom from Play.com for £10.99p inc. postage, I love these films about sleuthing duo Nick & Norah Charles, and there wonderful dog Asta, now these are a bargain to be had.

Howdy Barry!

I haven't taken the plunge yet, but I'm being sorely tempted, as Blu-ray players were down to 99.95 at my local warehouse store!

I'm expecting my BRD player (Panasonic BD80) any day now as I'm having it "rechipped" for multiregion capacity.

Jean-Marc,

Just a little warning, some manufacturers are putting programs specificly designed to find chipped or altered Blu-Ray players, within there Firmware/Software updates, and if found your player will be unable to get any further updates. When I bought my Sony from Adrian at Derann he said it was wiser just to concentrate on the "B" region Blu-Ray releases, and buy a cheap upscaling DVD player for DVD's from around the world.

Anyway I hope it all works out OK for you.

Thanks Barry. I'll let you know. I have too many discs from all over the world to add yet another machine as I already have too many machines! [Wink]
