I happen to get a Blu-Ray player for 25 bucks from our local pawn shop (a steal, it didn't have a remote and we already had a universal remote at home), so we bought that blu-ray edition of STAR WARS.

OK, admittedly, the picture is quite good, but I'm miffed about the extras!

The documentaries for the original three films are just the one hour TV versions, and while you can look at a lot of individual stuff, it's not as good as seeing a whole documentary, in my opnion.

I have the four disc DVD special edition of the original Star Wars trilogy (in the silver box) and the documentary is MUCH better, the first of the three films getting more coverage, of course.

My other peeve about this set, and perhaps someone can help me fix the problem.

I clicked on the first of those three STAR WARS making of TV specials, and the image that came up was a small "box" up in the upper left corner of the TV image, (please note, we have not moved up to a LCD TV and currently have a 30 inch old fashioned TV).

Is there anyway to make this full screen on the TV?

... as that little "box" presentation is damned annoying!

A couple of things:

1---The intent was to present NEW extras not just rehash the old.

2---It was announced well over a year before this set came out that this would NOT be a comprehensive "everything including the kitchen sink" set but mearly a placeholder set for something bigger in the future.

3---The one hour docs are the original TV specials that accompanied each film on it's original release. They are presented as aired, no longer versions exist.

As for the specials playing in a box in the corner, I cannot help you there. They play full screen on my plasma and trhough my HD projector.

However, this is not unique to you as others have reported it. I just did a search and could not find any solutions.

What brand is the blu-ray player? If it's an Insignia that seems to be a common problem. If it's another brand, I'll look around and see if I can come up with anything for you.

It's a SONY.

The film plays just just fine, (well, actually, if that function is somewhere in the Blu-ray player, I need to readjust it so that the scope image isn't imporperly shown, with the image stretched and not anamorphic).

By the way, as a professional artist and painter, I really wasn't impressed with the artwork, some illustrations are almost at the level of novice artist. They would have done much better with excellent reproductions of the original theatrical poster artwork.

That reminds me, how many of you remember this poster .....

It was released with the two LP STAR WARS original soundtrack, in 1977. The poster is rather large, of the attack on the Deathstar, but the neat thing is that there are about three or four Millenium Falcoms on the poster! It's no doubt an early illustration for the movie and was a promo with the LP.

Hmmmm. The blu-ray player connected to my plasma is a Sony and the extras play fine.

Model # of your player? That would help me a lot.

As for the stretched picture issue, it sounds like you need to go into the setup menu and select the proper aspect ratio for your TV.

And, yes! I remember that poster. I don't have it anymore. It's been lost to time [Frown]

As for the blu-ray artwork, much of it is pre-vis art done for the films. I personally find much of it beautiful.

I personally find the BR picture qaulity only marginally better than the very nice dvds that came before. No edge enhancement though, but I was expecting more zing picture wise.

Pop on say Troy or maybe T2 and wow !!!

I was also expecting more from the Stargate Ultimate Edition.

Still need to see Zulu which is supposed to be amazing, but I was expecting a bit more bang with the star wars set.

Best Mark.

Of course 'Attack of the Clowns' was shot of video so the image there will never be great.
