Sadly just reading that Michael Winner has died. His films were made to entertain you, not arty farty stuff. He made quite a few with Charles Bronson. Death Wish, The Mechanic to name just a few. Unfortunately he was not well represented on super 8.
quote:
Michael Winner, a highly successful British film director, was a flamboyant, larger-than-life character who could never be accused of being a shrinking violet.

He was a multi-millionaire, totally unashamed of his wealth, and a man who revelled in expensive holidays - only too happy to be photographed romping on tropical beaches with bikini-clad ladies less than half his age.

Winner was a cigar-chomping bon viveur, who occasionally delighted in pricking the pompous with a few acerbic comments. He developed into an argumentative and often infuriating newspaper columnist, as well as an uncompromising restaurant critic.

Nor was he a man who could be ignored - Winner made sure of that himself.

From MSM

RIP Michael Winner.

A true character, and the last of a breed, did you know that he
still projected film, and had his own private projectionist to show
films in his private cinema, "I just pick up the phone and tell them
what films I want to watch".He suffered severe food poisening while on holiday
from eating raw seafood, and would have died then,if it had'nt
been for the actions of Philip Greene, who took charge and flew him in his private helicopter from the island paradise to the
nearest hospital.Michael learned his lesson and never ate fish
raw or otherwise again.
R.I.P. Michael, the film world is more the poorer.
