I want to spread the word on this concerning a recent transaction I have had with Amazon. I recently sold a DVD for $2.40. Amazon took a $2.15 commission. With $2.98 for shipping. I spent $3.31 for shipping and tracking and it cost me to sell the DVD. I have deleted my entire inventory until Amazon comes to their senses. I know I am a puny seller but those kind of charges are out of line.
I just got an answer from Amazon. Here's how they break it down:
Dear Seller,
I have gone through your email and understand your concern. I will explain you the issue clearly.
Thank you for writing to us with your question about the Amazon fees for order #107-3802721-9130608.
I'm sorry that you didn't earn what you expected for this sale. I've reviewed your order and confirmed that you were charged the correct fees.
Here's a breakdown showing how the fees were calculated:
$2.40 (Sale price of product) -$0.36 (Commission on sale price) -$0.99 (Fixed closing fee) -$0.80 (Variable closing fee) $2.98 (Shipping credit) -------- = $3.23 (Net deposit to payments account)
Typical corporate thinking=GREED. This is what got the USA in trouble. They can't be satisfied with just the commission. I told them I would not only NOT sell on Amazon but I WOULDN'T BUY anything on Amazon. This is simply OUTRAGEOUS CHARGES.

I myself can't see a problem with selling a few dvd's on here Larry members tend to sell various bits & pieces of their gear, including video projectors etc, we all use them so put them on,can't see the harm.

Larry,
This came up once before. If the seller has been member for a while and did not join for the sole purpose of selling DVDs then I have no problem with a sale listing in the General Yak section. If the DVDs are directly related to the hobby (e.g.,The Men Behind The Movies), the post should be in the 8mm Forum section.

Two closing fees? How many times can you close the same item. This is what happens when companies get too big. They just don't care about the little guy and force them out. EBay is the same way.

Yeah I have to agree with you all because it's all about profits and corporate greed and they don't care about the customer anymore and it's sad it has come to this.
