So yesterday we ate at Claudio's in Greenport. This is a great seafood restaurant here on Long Island. It's considered to be the oldest restaurant in continuous operation by the same family in the USA. They were a smuggler of illegal hooch during prohibition and the tunnel out to the waterfront is still there!
My son (eleven next month) and I were out looking at a cigarette boat tied up to the dock. He commented "It's British!" I asked "What makes you think so?" he said "The steering wheel is on the right!"
(All of our boats have them on the right...)
A few minutes later the guys got in and fired the thing up. It was so loud it startled everybody enjoying their meals.
They idled away from the dock: it sounded like an earthquake!
About ten seconds out they stalled!
-ever hear an entire restaurant cheer?
Makes me long for the days of sail! You may never have arrived, but at least it was quiet!
