Has anyone else received an email about confirmation of there bank account details, and the veiled threat of limited use and access to there accounts ?. Looking closely at the email, suggests to me that the it has been typed by hand as some of the words are jumbled together, and maybe by someone who does not speak English as a first language. I have not responded to this until I can speak in person to them, be careful everyone.

I always ignore e-mails like that, for the reason you mentionned : there are language mistakes (in French in my case) that suggest these messages don't come from your bank. My bank has my phone number anyway (but never give any information by phone as you don't know who's calling you) in cas of emergency.

If you wish to be sure about this I would suggest you personally visit your bank to seek assurance that everything is in order.

I have had similar emails purportedly from TalkTalk. I contacted them direct and they confirmed that the emails were fraudulent. In the case of Talktalk they provided me with a link to forward the fake emails to, each time I received them, which I do. It gives them the opportunity to investigate and track down the scammers. Genuine institutions like PayPal/ Banks etc don't ask for Bank details by email, so do not reply but report them to the institution they purport to come from. Beware - there are plenty of scumbags out there trying to cheat away your hard earned money.
