All these comedy greats were able to make us all laugh without any filth and f words. Today there's hardly a comedian around who seem unable to do any comedy without an F word every other word. Isn't it ironic that in the 70s even the early 80s we all laughed at the likes of It aint half hot mum, from death do us part and love they neighbour, none of these great comedy's contained any harsh or filthy language but they did indeed make jokes, (yes jokes, something that is not offensive and not to be taken seriously), of our ethnic friends who were always the butt of the joke but were intentionally made to get the upper hand, now,,, cast your mind back to this era of comedy, Bernard Manning at that time was one of the first comedians to tell jokes using the F and C word almost continuously, proper trade boys comedy and you will recall he was always slaughtered for being a foul mouthed trashy low life comedian,((personally i thought he was great, he always made laugh and still does on his DVD's),transport forward to modern days and we now have the the clean language of the 70s as being totally taboo in particular the N word yet its OK for the F & C word to be spoken constantly on terrestrial TV. But no matter what, no one can ever compete with the likes of Tommy Cooper, Monkhouse and Morecambe and wise. The odd thing about all this is that fact that two ethnic minorities can & do refer to one another as N but if we say it we are in big trouble. If you go to youtube and watch love thy neighbour,(all be it very dated now) you tell me why anyone could call it offensive? As for Bob Monkhouse, one of the greatest comedians of all time, take a look at his stand up, the stuff TV wasnt allowed to show.
