Well I have to take my hat off to the Disney people, they have done a amazing job to sell this new movie, due out soon.

I have never seen anything like it [Cool] The merchandise is everywhere, you can buy "Star Wars" shirts, Lego, shampoo, etc etc. I don't think the Disney people have missed anything, even a Darth Vader chocolate. [Big Grin]

Well done Disney [Cool] ...got your movie tickets yet?

I'd be interested in the details of the deal. It wouldnt surprise me if George Lucas was also getting a cut from all the merchandise.

Agree, Lee -- I'll see the new Star Wars, but not in a theatre. Like all other new releases, I'll wait to watch it in my home cinema, which I find to be a much more pleasant experience.

My problem with it is I haven't really followed the series very closely and it's hard to place the various episodes in context. (I have the same problem with Harry Potter: we went to see one of them with some friends one time and actually had to study first!)

Don't get me wrong: I do like them but with so many of them coming out while I was in college I'm a little vague on what's what and who's who!

This new release "The Force Awakens" I think is going to be a huge hit at the cinema. Its amazing the interest that's been generated with the young and old. I bought a couple of the new "Star Wars" posters, they look really good.

This Lego "Death Star" made me smile look at the compactor at the bottom. the detail is really neat.

1...A New Hope.

This is the order of release, and it is truly neat how they went back and added 'special effects' to 1,2,3 whilst they were releasing 4,5,6 to make them look contiguous...but you cannot without redoing them completely. Watching them back to back is 'weird' a bit.
I'm a 70's baby, so from my perspective, the above will always be #1,2,3 in my mind.
I really could have done without the others to be honest. Yes, I like phantom menace after watching it several times, but i cannot get the drive to watch clones or sith after one or two goes. I guess i am either a true fan, or not a fan at all..
I haven't figured which [Smile]
I am going to try to separate #7 mentally from the rest and give it a go(at home as well) and will see if i like it or not... but if it doesn't work out..I am happy with the original 3!!!

What a neat idea, in a few years time that might be just the thing [Big Grin]

I can imagine "its use" in future "film conventions"....

When I watched the very first "Star Wars" film at the cinema way back in 1977, it was never thought of by me as "A New Hope" just Star Wars. I would never have thought back then, that the interest in "Star Wars" would be like what it is today, after 38 years on....amazing.

What I am looking forward to with this new movie, will hopefully be a fresh approach, plus with the present 3D digital technology "The Force Awakens" will be a fun ride for the old and new fans, especially in the 3D format, which has come a long way from those early days.

What I would like to see and I am sure many others out there also, is to see a Blu-ray release of the first three original films, with an edit done, as they were first shown at the original cinema release of that time....here is hoping that one day Disney will do just that, as fans have been asking for that for years.

I thought I read at the time that Disney only own the rights to the new films. Lucas still own the originals. Obviously Disney can use use the old characters in tne new films and parts of the old story. But im still not 100% sure of what Disney own.

and as Lucas has said he will never re release the original 1977 film in its original format,(before it was souped up with extra special effects), this is what makes our feature scope/stereo feature prints very desirable to the biggest star wars fans, even if they dont have projectors to show them on. [Confused]

A historical account of how the film was presented in 1977.

Not a massive fan myself, but I understand perfectly well from my love of similar historical releases in the Disney camp.

I doubt outside of a Derann home cinema environment, you can watch Snow White now for example, how it was originally released.

This is probably the very same for Star Wars in scope / stereo!
