This came to me in a blinding flash today. A contemporary film, unavailable on Blu Ray, a cartoon feature made by the hugely talented Brad Bird. A film that looks stunning in CinemaScope. Ladies and gentlemen, the print that I would dearly love to own, I give you THE IRON GIANT.

'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' would be on my list too Melvin along with 'The Abominable Dr Phibes', 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' and 'The Bride Of Frankenstein' (amongst numerous others).

I agree! An excellent animated feature, truly one of the last great hand drawn animated films, and it would look AWESOME in scope!

It exists but only in 16mm,i got one brand new print from the original negative with spanish soundtrack LPP so maybe you can find a english 16mm print, i know it exist.

Mine are numerous, Italian job, boogie nights, a low fade version of enter the dragon and Saturday night fever. A hard days night is available on s8 full feature, and on her majesty's secret service both from CHC. Some features are available on the Italian and German ebay sites, some are not generally known to be around.

Paul - Saturday Night Fever - Yes! Have got the 3x 400' version but full length would be nice..... same, maybe for The Towering Inferno? An amazing 'scope print THAT would make!

I have the full feature Melvin, but on marketing films, so more red than I would like, but not a bad print, would have been a great film from Derann on LPP though.

Actually Jose, if you have a spanish version, as long as it has no spanish subtitles anywhere, you could just print the film and then, add any soundtrack you want, from any language on the magnetic track as, rarely are the tracks suitable for a great audio off of the optical 16MM. It's mono to begin with, and if you wanted a print of this in stereo, you'd have to go with an audio track from a DVD ...

so, hey, 16MM with no subtitles but in scope, good [printing source (as long as it is in good shape) as, from my own experience, I was very impressed with the image quality from 16MM souce material with our animated commercial reel, when printed on super 8.

Now, the one problem you could potentially run into, is that, not all optical prionters will print from 16MM to make a 16Mm negative for super 8 printing. Most go from 35MM dfown to a 16MM negative for a super 8 print.

Osi, I would think that such a late release 16mm print would only be adapted scope sadly. I might be wrong though.

Paul - I assume you are referring to a full feature of Saturday Night Fever? I will keep a look out for it. You mention it is a bit on the red side? Well, regardless of whether you referred to S.N.F or The Towering Inferno it would make no difference....... red disco lights..... or plenty of fire!!!!

Melvin, they do turn up from time to time. My copy came from new York city so its almost its home from home. Not everyone's musical tastes I know, but an important film non the less for me a timeless classic of my long lost youth, when going out on Saturday night was to just enjoy yourself and get home in one piece.

Being a lad growing up in the 70's and loving soul and dance & disco music of that era, clearly I am going to be one of those people who really likes films like this one. [Smile]

It has earthy tribal suburban undertones to it from back in the day also, so it's not all flares and 4 button waistband's here! Ha ha.

Wonder what Yvonne Elliman is doing now? Lol.
