The BFCC Lite scheduled at Ealing for 24 September has had to be postponed due to the council closing many roads in the area for a Marathon. Keith hopes to have one in the Spring.

Just have spoken to Barry Attwood who tells me that he had already put these details in the 8mm section. However, it's important that everybody is informed.

Having supported Ealing over the last fifteen years or more, I have questioned the wisdom of running a sales only event without a film programme. Half the enjoyment of being there was watching the shows which made for a great day out. It will become just a tour round the stalls which, unless you're actually looking to buy, doesn't take too long. The supporting film programme made the expense to attend well worth while. I wonder how many will make the effort for something less. I realise it takes a great deal of time, effort and money to put on something like the full monty, but that's what pulls in the punters. It only needs one flop to finish the thing forever. Keith and helpers have done a sterling job but can it survive in a lesser manifestation? I really hope so but I have niggling doubts.

Could the whole film show aspect not be done in more modest manner?

I.e. 6ft portable easily erected screen, 2 passive ext speakers and a standard halogen presentation using only the mag tracks?

It would take a lot less time and effort to set up and you could still seat a fair gathering for an audience by just using standard assembly hall style plastic chairs etc.

At the end of the day, the people attending would still get to see those beautiful prints and the whole thing could be packed into the back of a car inside 40 minutes.

A lot less hassle for Keith.

My old largest DJ lighting rig used to take up to a couple of hours to put up and down and pack away again.

It looked fantastic in action but after only a few years I soon realised that the smarter guys out there had rigs you could put up and down in a matter of minutes.
They didn't have quite the same effect but a couple of Dmx laser effects and lightweight led effects could still shower a large room full of synchronized colourful effective and exciting lighting in a fraction of the time and effort it would take me to put my heavyweight gear into position onto the large overhead rig. The lite version (I think) would only have used the small hall and have less chance of making a loss.

John Clancy has posted BFCC Facebook page "I do think it's best that this one goes ahead in Spring as it was all a bit short notice largely owing to a few other dealers cajoling Keith into putting something on....if BFCC LITE is a success there may just be a full-blown BFCC complete with the big screen cinema next October."
