I hadn't actually given it a lot of thought, but i was blocked when wanting to bid on an item, a cartoon. i had bought a feature from this person that honestly was not as described, but the cartoon the person is offering is a Derann print and quite frankly, as a general rule, Derann prints are a "good risk" ...
... and hey, I wouldn't be surprised if most ebay sellers have run into a person here and there that they have had to block. I have, once, as well as, well, you don't want a person treating you're sales like a "library' instead of a place to buy prints you actually want more than one view, 9as i related on another series of posts on here ...
... but when you block bidders you can actually hurt you're own items.
don't get me wrong, some folks do need blocking, but i wonder, personally, that if i should end up in this kind of situation again, if i should give the seller a second strile and then you're out (blocked) rule.
The reason why I reason this, is, in the case of this persons auction, I would have bid this cartoon up, as i would have liked to have bought it, and the seller would have no doubt made more money, (as it ended while I was on the computer and it only got the starting bid, i would have bid it up at least to twice that amount).
so, block bidders if necessary but know that you may also inhibit the bidding on you're own items and lose money ...
potentially ...

Good topic , Osi .
I block bidders who bid but don't end up paying .
They get the infamous " non - paying bidder " hit on their account and I have to relist the item , or offer it as a second chance ( which very seldom sells ) . They cause a lot of work and mess up the auction , so they don't deserve to be able to buy from me ever again .
And I'll block bidders for other reasons that have to do with returns or bad feedback . Especially if a buyer has a history of returning items , negative comments left for sellers in feedback or even stupid questions asked . A lot of eBayer's don't even read the entire auction and end up asking questions and their answer is in plain type in the auction . That's a red flag for trouble .
But as a seller , blocking bidders has never hurt my sales .
There's always somebody else that wants the item ( eventually ).
But , as in your case , people don't always agree on a description and as the seller I would have worked something out with you and not blocked you . Provided you contacted me first , before opening a case or a return . I accept returns for any reason and all you have to do is contact me , return it and I return all monies paid , including return postage paid . BUT if you open a case and not contact me before hand , you will be blocked AND have to wait the entire length of the return to get a refund .
Generally most people are good buyers and I get a lot of return customers because they know I am a very customer - serviced seller . You know , it's not all about making a buck .
