This year, the festival will take place in Spain (from 24th to 27th April). Without surprise, the number of film entries has declined these last years, so if any ninefiver has a film to send, I am sure it would be more than appreciate. I got the informations via (post)mail, the personn to contact is mister Santiago Marrè-Res.Sant Quirze, 8- E-08370 Calella (Barcelona) - Spain

Luigi, I have only the informations I sent you by e-mail (a copy of the entry form, on the same page of the hotel reservation), there is no date on it. I guess the organisators will only be happy to receive films so I would be surprised if it would be a problem for late entries.

Thank you, Dom. I just finished shooting a movie in my city, I had in mind another project with more plot for the festival, but I don't think I would do it in time. We I hope that development of city's film is not very hard, as soon as I get the film ready, I ship it, I think that even if it is received just before is not a problem, as you say. Let's hope for a fast development!

The Internet page of the 9,5 Dutch club says : "The 40th International Filmfestival will take place in Holland from june 4th untill june 7th 2015. This festival will be organized by the Dutch 9,5 club. Where in Holland the festival will be held is not yet decided. When more information about the festival is available you will be able to find it on this website." This will happen in about 6 months from now. So, why do I put the information so early ? The reason is that it becomes difficult to get films at any competition or festival. So, it would be nice if a maximum of ninefivers who still shoot could enter films to help keeping the international festival and the gauge alive. Just think that you can in 2014 use a Pathé camera manufactured in 1923, shoot with it and Watch your film with a Pathé projector made one year earlier in 1922. Will someone in 2100 be able to use a digital camera bought in a shop in 2015, shoot with it and then Watch the result on a screen (tv or laptop) bought also in 2015 ? Let me doubt seriousely about that...

The programm of the festival is now known The main projection night for the 9.5 film sent by filmakers will happen on the Friday 5 th June. The day before, another projection night is planned but it will depend on the number of entries so other films (or format) may be projected. Without surprise, the number of films sent has dropped these last years, so for the 40 th edition of the international 9.5 festival, don't hesitate to send your films. Any informations can be obtained here : info@cine95nederland.nl Following the form, any kind of 9.5 film is accepted : 16/18/24 fps, silent or sound (striped/tape/cd).

I hope a member of the forum will give us some comments of the festival. I wanted to to attend it but I'm suffering from a painful discal hernia.

Dominique What a disappointment for you as you were looking forward to attending. I see from the Internet that your unfortunate condition is often called "a slipped disc". It sounds very painful and I do hope that it will not incapacitate you for too long and you will soon feel better. An English expression is probably relevant: "Time is a great healer".

Thank you, Maurice. I'm very disappointed indeed. I will see a specialist tomorrow afternoon, hoping he will be able to soften the pain.

I got a phone call tonight from Madame Latrasse from the Ciné Club 9,5 de France. She gave me some report of the festival. Is there any member of the forum who was Lucky enough to attend it ? Could we have some feedback ? By the way, I was told that next year the festival will be held in Britain.
I attended the international and it was excellent. Very well organized by the dutch. Excursions included a canal cruise and a steam train ride both including lunches. Also there was a tour down a coal mine and seeing some fine sculptures made out of marl. The 9.5 film competition had a healthy 13 entries and was won by Graham Murray. For the first time there was also a digital competition shown from a video projector and this idea is probably going to be included in the next international. The hotel chosen was very nice with friendly staff and clean rooms. The food here was also excellent. The weather couldn't have been much better with warm and sunny days.
Yes the next international will be held in the UK in the city of Liverpool. The date is about mid June.
There will be a full review of this international in the Autumn edition of 9.5 magazine.

The north also secured a award by our dear friend Angus.
In the long run projecting competition 9-5 digitally on a big screen may be the way to go as quality bright projection in a large room is somewhat limited. Amateur film competitions in the UK have been inviting film entries on disc or digital tape for some time so just maybe 9-5 should get with the beat here, we shall see.

Thank you for the feedback. Except from the digital part that doesn't interest me at all, it seems that my slipped disc made me miss good moments. I'm just back from the hospital but hope to be able to restart my projections soon.
