Are there any household products or chemicles you can buy to use to lubricate or clean film without harming?
Thanks

There are, but they are flammable. Also, they can possibly damage the print being cleaned. Your best bet is to use cleaners specifically made for film. Yes they are expensive, but why take a chance? You will notice that I didn't say which household products you could try; do so at your own risk.

No, you do not want dirt causing damage to the film. Urbanski Film has a selection of cleaners and a link to instructions on how to clean a print. He has a website and also sells on eBay. If you have a dirty/oily print, it will cause scratch damage. Also, a cleaner with lubricant ensures smooth projection. If the film is filthy, you most certainly want to clean it. All this work and expense is part of the hobby. But us Old Timers wouldn't have it any other way! [Smile]

Austin,

There are a ton of threads here about cleaning prints. You can use the search function to look up "film cleaning", "Film Renew", or "FilmGuard" to find lots of info.

save up some money and invest in a film-o-clean and use it with film guard and you will never be unhappy.....
