I just saw your post. Thanks for your words. I am going to send you a PM and email, if this is OK with you.

During the years I have developed a standard policy to get and own the service manuals for most of my home electronic devices (and beyond). It has proved to be very useful, especially when time is passed and maintenance and/or repairs are necessary and there are no qualified technicians to do it. However, for the older components this is not easy all the times.

The Elmo SC-18 had been used at home quite often (sometimes extensively), especially when my children were still young. We used to play ready-made 8 mm films, some of them extracts from real cinema large works and most of them stored on 15 to 20 minutes reels. We also enjoyed our own small films, shot with my Canon 514XL-S Super-8 sound camera, which now must be gathered together and be sorted and grouped appropriately.

Unfortunately, these days are passed and I can see now how wonderful they were. I need to go back to them and the Elmo is the most significant component for this. Therefore, my very first step should be the correct and complete maintenance of the SC-18. This is where a service manual gets in. I will continue searching for it and I hope I get it at the end.

Meanwhile, the Instruction Manual is available for anyone, wanting it. It can be sent with email, as I did for Jean-Marc and I am going to do for Winbert tonight.

Thanks, I have downloaded from wetransfer.

I knew some email providers are not allowing file more than 3 MB, so you used this route.

But I offer you another alternative that we can use for transferring a big file like this by using Google Drives.

I no longer save my important files in computer hardrive which can get damage or lost but by saving in Google Drive. We can get a full access from anywhere and anytime and any computer, plus sharing the files to anyone just by giving the link.

For example, the manual you just gave me can now be downloaded from the below link without any time limit as wetransfer does:

Good evening to all, again

I decided to go ahead and buy from ebay the Service Manual for my SC-18. It wasn't cheap, it costed me almost $38.00 (including shipping to Greece), but I felt like having no alternative, in case I really need to make the SC-18 fully operational again. I believe it will take a few days to arrive at my home, but this is expectable.

Anyway, after having read the relevant thread, where Jean-Marc Toussaint has provided some very useful photos and info about belt replacement, I noticed that there are three (3) belts inside the projector.

Subsequently, following Jean-Marc's suggestions, I found that the seller "isellprojectorbelts", plus one more seller at ebay, both do offer a set of two (2) - not three (3) - belts, claiming they are BRAND NEW.

Let's say that I initially accept their claiming and buy the belts.
- Am I going to have trouble, by NOT having the third belt?
- Is that 3rd belt also subject to aging and failing, as the other two selling ones?
- If it really needs to be replaced, where am I going to find one?

Please, forgive for asking so many questions. It is true that I haven't still tried to open the projector and form a firm opinion about its condition, therefore some of my current questions may seem stupid. But I really would like to be better prepared, before I face an unexpected surprise.

I believe the 3rd belt is for a footage counter. Most of the machines that were made do not have one. You will know for sure when you view the Service Manual. I bought a set of 2 belts but only needed one. The one I didn't use I have not changed because the original is still good. It took quite awhile to replace the broken belt due to having a very tight space inside to work with. It was better than disassembling the projector though. And without the Service Manual to refer to I left well enough alone!
