  • Son Lens

Hi folks, looking for a projection lens for Pathescope SON projector - does anyone have a nice shiney one surplus to requirements? (or even a dull one at the right price) I'm sure most people know it, but just in case, they look a bit like mushrooms. Any help appreciated.

    Hi Paul
If you measure the diameter of the barrel on your machine I may be able to help. It won’t be a Son lens but a better one than the original. I had a Son back in the day and ditched the original lens for a better one, I have a box full of all types, so fingers crossed.

Hi John and thanks for your reply. I must confess I am only looking for an original, even though I understand they might well have not been the best, so if you ever DO come across one l'd love to hear from you again. Kind regards, Paul

Paul , will keep my eyes open when I visit the various film conventions during the year. Love the pic of the terrible twins you posted. I hope you don’t run them with dodgey prints as they will shred them, but aesthetically they look extremely futuristic and in good shape.
        regards John

Ah, I beg to differ, and will say more in my final "exploits" post! Kind regards, Paul

Paul, you could try Patrick Moules of the Vintage Film Circle for a lens. I posted his contact details a couple of months ago for another member in this topic.

Paul, I have just scrolled back and the contact is novascope@aol.com. Patrick is disposing of a lot of stuff that belonged to Martyn Stevens (Cinetdistan) who was a lifelong friend.

Thanks Ken. I am in touch with Patrick Moules and he had already been very kind and helpful.
