  • BFI National Film Archive open day

Just in case it's of interest, the BFI National Film and Television Archive is having a heritage open day in September. My friend Rosie Taylor, who is a curator there, is hoping to demonstrate 9.5mm both silent and sound to visitors:

Sounds nice, but the BFI looks to be far away from London. It happens that I will be in London on that week-end, for a 9.5 event that will be held on Saturday 14 September :-)

You can get a train from London, Euston station to Berkhamsted which takes about 30 minutes. You'd probably need to get a taxi from the station to the film archive.

Well done Rosie! The bfi had pretty well ignored 9.5mm in the past, prior to the efforts of Kevin Brownlow and “Napolian”. A Bell and Howell conversion, not many of those about. Glad you managed to get there Dom.

I'm happy I could visit the BFI building.. Berkhamsted is a lovely typic British place. The BFI is at a quiet walking distance from the train station, but it worthed it.

It was fantastic to see the gauge put in value like that. Thanks, Rosie!
