  • 9.5 mm film from Color Film Archives, what gives?

Hi all, I was curious who in this forum has placed an order for the 9.5 mm film from Color Film Archives in Epinay Sur Seine?

I placed an order for 10 rolls beginning of the year and all emails and request for updates have gone unanswered, only once I was promised the order will go out tomorrow, that was beginning of the summer.

I know they are still waiting for a mechanical piece to fulfill the rest of the orders but it is odd to me that this indirect info is the only update I got and from a member of this forum, not someone at CFA directly. I have no problem waiting, it's the lack of communication that's a problem to me. I just want to know who else is in the same boat on this?

As a side note, here is a picture of my Pathé collection. All my 9.5 cameras have been serviced in Italy and patiently waiting to shoot!

I'm the one who answered. I share 100% your frustration, and I have my opinion about the lack of communication for which I don't see any justification. At least, I know it's not a Ferrania story : the machine exists, and they are willing to provide films. My own remaining stock of films is at low level, and I would like to be able to order more films, as well. I suggest you to see with René Dupin, who runs the website of the ciné club 9,5 de France, as he may have direct contacts with the club member who has the machine, if he has more recent news.

Hi Dominique, I sort of gave up trying to get an update from CFA myself and even suggested to them that if a path to the films was near impossible they can just reimburse me, but that message was of course left unanswered as well.

My original message here was just to see who, besides us two, have placed orders for the film with CFA and see if they had any credible updates on what to expect. I did reach out to René Dupin.

It's sad to be honest because it's not a good look for new members that want to join the 9.5 mm world as this is the only option for film, which might not even be one after all.

Sorry for jumping in in the conversation. If the problem of making new film is a missing or broken part of the machine that was used, I can repair it free of charge in my company.

Let's do whatever is necessary to keep our 9.5 film available.

Please, tell them that they can get in contact with me to my email pedrofono@pedrofono.es

        Regards

        Pedro

          I agree with you, Yoram.

Pedro, from what I understand, the piece to be replaced has already been ordered. Thanks for your offer.

Some news : the manufacturing of film should restart before the end of the year. From what I understand, the piece that arrived didn't give 100 % satisfaction, so another was ordered. There is also a project to use a small 9.5 process machine to have more facilities to have the films handled in Paris. It takes much more times that hoped, but things go on.
