Hope to see 9.5 enthusiasts from the UK and other countries (people from France, Germany and Belgium-guess who-have already confirmed to be there), this year. For those who cannot attend, there will be a live Internet transmission on Saturday 23rd April at 5:30 pm, SPANISH TIME : Cinema 9,5mm online - YouTube

As we were in lock down last year, this event went ahead as an online only presentation. I watched it all and was thoroughly entertained by it for a couple of hours or so. The presenters do speak English (as well as Spanish) so there will not be a language problem.
I recommend you watch this.

I wanted to start with the picture of Mister Otte from Germany. Not only he makes good 9.5 films, but, as you probably know Mister Otte reperfors 16 mm filmstock to 9.5, so we still can shoot thanks to him. Mister Otte makes each year the way from Germany to Calella and had, as you can see on the picture a special sweat-shirt for the century of the gauge. All my respect !
The Friday night, there has been a first projection as a tribute to 9.5 and its 100 years. For those who attended the Calella festival before, I precise the projections were made this year in a new place.
The projetor used for the projections. The gentleman seen on the picture is the happy owner of this great machine. This projector is the one who was used in the past at the sadly no more existing Albi festival (in France).
Tests were made for the Internet live projection that was scheduled for the next day.
This film was used as "test" for the Internet captation equipment. If you followed the Saturday online projection, you may have recognized that British film
A (talented) pianist provided a live music during this Friday night projection.
One of the best comic actors, ever...

Glad you enjoyed the pictures, Doug. Here are some more...
The organizators displayed a projector at the entrance of the photo exhibition (the 9.5 festival is part of a larger event called "Festimage" that also cover photos and (sadly, digital) shorts).
This poster is a tribute to previous 9.5 festivals in Calella.
Thes kind of meetings are also about meetings. I was lucky to meet two forum readers ! One of them (who was unsure he already had registered or not but told me he would if he hadn't) was Robert who speaks also French and German (which was fantastic for Mister Otte). On the picture, Robert holds the mug of the centenary of the 9.5.
Ramon made a small presentation of the gauge.
This camera is a Pathé Lido that takes 15m/50ft spools.
A film was shown with one of Lluis'projectors.
The Pathé Webo (that takes 30m/100 ft spools) is ready...
...to be used !
It did attract attention of younger people

Last pictures...
Films are ready for the Saturday afternoon projection.
Lluis checks everything will be ok.
The list of the films (from Germany, France, Spain, Denmark and the UK) in competition. The audience was asked to vote for one title and the people watching online could vote as well.
Between two films, some speeches. Here, Bernard Castella, president of the Ciné-club 9,5 de France.
The online appearance of Cliff was projected on the screen for the audience in Calella to benefit from what the president of Group 9.5 UK said.
The Sunday closure ceremony.
Sadly, the picture is not good. The 100 years cake.
The 100 years' souvenir.

Dear Dominique!
At last could I log in! There was a problem with my user name, now solved. Very nice to have met you and Mr. Otte, Mr Gassó, Mr Argelich and all the rest of the 9,5 group. Thank you so much for your pictures, Dominique.
By the way, just in case it is of interest to any of you, Andec in Germany get by special order 35mm Ektrachrome 100D film in 400ft cores but... already perfored. I have done a cost estimation and it turns much more expensive than slitting and perforing 16mm film. If it were non-perf then it could be much more economical as 3 rolls of 9,5 could be done from a roll of 35mm.
By the way, did you know that orwo has already launched the web shop in orwo.shop? A new color movie film in 8, 16 and 35 is coming. Maybe we can persuade them to do it in 9,5. Problem is that it will be negative, so not suitable for projection unless cross-processed
Best regards
