I enlarged the picture Maurice, and it looks like it may be a microphone. It has a lead and a 2pin plug on the end of it. Ken Finch.

I agree Ken looks like an early microphone which could be used to make announcements etc via the input on side of the Vox. Thanks Dom for the great pics, I started on 9.5 and always have a soft spot for this innovative gauge .

After some searches on the Fondation Seydoux-Pathé site, I found out that it is, indeed a 1937 microphone.

Nice to know I was correct. I think you could also plug a gramophone pick up into the same socket on the VOX. Much of my knowledge of vintage audio equipment is due to my Dad as he was an audio and electronics engineer. Ken Finch.

The socket is marked PU.
Also a similar socket on the Pathescope Son.

I was told this little wonder has been found on Ebay UK (how couls I have missed that ? I should go again on this site, although the post-Brexit VAT)

It says in the screen : Pathé presents... and down : his little sister Christine born on 14th February 1927.

A processing machine for amateurs.

A commercial in Italian. It says : Our classroom owns a Pathé Baby. Viva the teacher!!

Those were files made to help teachers with Pathé educational film. I assume the same material was available in English.

This article announces that a demonstration of the Pathé Baby camera will be organized. Pathé sent operators who filmed people and then showed them the results a few a days later. As a result, projectors and cameras were sold. This demonstration was planned on a beach. At that time, only rich people went there...

You can watch digitalized Pathé Baby films (projected on an original Pathé Baby screen !). There is a choice of cards with the tiltle of the film and a visual code, you put the code on the reader and the film starts.

On the right : King Albert II (of Belgium) is being explained how the Pathé Baby camera works.

Another ad in Italian. It says, if i'm not mistaking, The cinema in every family brings back the past, educates, entertains.

As the picture of the not very dressed lady suggests, this 9.5 machine shows the kind of films children should not see.

Classical Pathé Baby sign. It says : Pathé Baby the cinema at home mute sound talkie.

It's until the 4th March, so if you go to Paris, don't miss it !
