Just learnt that the exciter lamp as used in 16mm Eiki/Elf and Elmo projectors, and Buckingham conversions, was discontinued on 12th January 2023.
This is known as a G27 and also as a BRK. It is inserted horizontally.
Get in a supply now.
Sorry, Alan, I made a mistake, and inadvertently showed a link to a G29, which has a different filament position, and is used in Bell & Howell, also Rank Aldis and Bauer.
I have now corrected the link to a G27 BRK.
„Tonlampe“ or „Lichttonlampe“ = exciter lamp
waagerecht = horizontal
senkrecht = vertical/upright
„Best.-Nr.“ or „Bestellnummer“ = order number
Stück = item (in this case: exactly one item)
Sockel = socket
Lampe = lamp
When you need other words translated, then please post your questions here. I’ll try to answer ASAP. But I am usually only reading this forum in the evenings (CET).
Have fun with your Lichttonfilme (optical sound films)!

Terry, would you by any chance have any of the old 115 volt 200 to 400watt standard pre focus base bulbs? It would save me having to convert my old Pax to halogen. I have done a lot of mechanical and audio modifications but it still runs on the original transformer. Ken Finch.
Sorry Terry, I am not able to show you a picture. My computer skills are not up to it !! However the PAX does not have the T base it has the same base as the Specto 500 and many other projectors used but NOT the Debrie or. Bell and Howell. I am pretty sure that the Ampros and some slide projectors used the same base. It is like a standard bayonet base but with 2 small flanges at the top instead of pins. It was known as the standard pre focus base.Hope this helps. Ken Finch.😊
This is something that I have been working on now for quite some time. It is to produce a new exciter lamp, that houses a laser diode instead of a tungsten filament.
This uses the same bayonet cap base, it is powered by the projectors supply so there is no modification needed. Simply push in and turn as you would do with a standard exciter lamp. There would need to be two models produced one for super 8 and the other for 16mm.
Using a laser there is no need for different orientation as there is with a filament.
From experimenting with this on a 16mm projector I found that there is a great improvement to the clarity of sound and also volume.
All of this is work in progress at the moment as I keep finding new ways for improvement, this includes an adjustment so it is possible to fine tune the alignment of the beam.

I guess this is the type you are looking for, but the lowest wattage I have is 500w 115v. I do have 200w but they have the Pathe T piece
fittment.
Terry
Ken
what I do have is loads of these 120v 300w lamps (more than a dozen) but you would have to convert the lamp holder to take this type of fitting. In the past
I converted a Pathe 200b to take this lamp because the original lamps were nearly impossible to find. Let me know what you think.
Terry
Thanks Terry. I would be interested in the 500 watt lamps as they are for the Specto. I will have to look into the possibility regarding suitability for the PAX as it’s transformer may not be able to cope with the extra current and heat.Ken Finch.
