  • Help/Advise on how to adjust the take up tension on 16mm Eiki Slim Line Projector

    Hello

I have an Eiki Slim Line projector that I believe the tension on the take-up arm needs to be adjusted. When I run a mylar print the take is fine. When I run an IB Tech print with no warpage or curl the take-up is loose. I have had another collector tell me that it is not unusual for Eiki's to need take-up tension adjust so IB Tech prints take-up fine due to tech being a tad heavier film stock. I have heard the ELMO 16's do not seem t have this problem.

If anyone has any advice or can tell me how to check and adjust the tension on the take up, that would be great.

    Cheers Ken

The slim line series of projectors (SL, SSL) usually has the improved take up arm with a belt (similar to B&H), and not the cork lined take up of the earlier models (ST, RT, NT). This improved take up arm is usually working much better.

I have both SSL and NT projectors and I am always using heavier metal reels for take-up. They have a bit more momentum than light plastic reels, which results in better take-up of the film (also of warped film).

But maybe the curl in your print is just be a bit to much?
