  • Indentifying 16 mm projector

    Hello there!

I discovered this evening in an old Belgian newspaper a photo of a 16 mm projector, running a film in a court in Ghent. Can someone recognize the type of projector?

Not easy from this picture. Maybe if you could add the year the newspaper was published, that would help ?

Possibly a Siemens 2000 silent model.

Doesn't look like a Siemens 2000 to me and definitely not a silent projector as it appears that a speaker or microphone lead is attached to the front. Looks more like a Danson to me, but from my recollection the 540 did not have a jack point on the front, so may be an earlier model?

Wasn't that one called The Astro? No sure.

The Danson was a left handed projector. So, not a Danson.

I am still of the opinion that it is a silent Siemens 2000.

As it's a silent projector what appears to be a lead is, in fact, the bottom loop of film.
Have a look at this video of a silent Siemens.

The Siemens was a "build up model", with 40 different variations.

This photo was published in a newspaper of 1980. The Dutch text says that a 40-minutes colour movie was shown in the auditorium, as a reconstruction of the facts that were happened...

that is definately a siemens 2000 in the simplest form, no sound head attached. what you see at the front of the base is a hole where a connector would have been when a sound head was added
