  • Elf rt2 amp blows fuse

I have just finished servicing this machine most of which was frozen together.
anyway that side is sorted I then powered it on to test it but the was no sound so I looked at the fuses and the main screw in one had blow so I replaced it and on powering the machine on I turned the amp control to on I got s load hum and the fuse blow.
I have taken the amp out and can see 4 Toshiba parts with black legs number 1d2z1 with a 6e or 6h at the end any help would be much appreciated.
    Barry.

Ok update I've found the problem it's the output transistors that have blown 2sc1667 and 2sa837 would anyone have a old Eiki amp that have these on like to sell me them.

I am not a technician, but I am wondering why the transistors should have blown. Perhaps other components contributed to their demise. Capacitors often give trouble in the long run.
The RT model is quite old.

Hi Maurice it would be due to someone turning on the amp with no speaker plugged in it often blows them on the elf.

          Yes, I see.
This could easily happen as this model does not have an internal built-in speaker.

I can thoroughly recommend Martyn Stribling (Cinema Paradiso). I bought an excellent Elf RT-0 from him three years ago, and as John says, he also has many parts for Elf/Eiki, and other projectors.
