  • When a cement splice fails...

While watching the second 2000 ft. reel of Some Like It Hot tonight... A cement splice quietly came apart and began dropping the film onto the floor. Grrrrrgh! 😤 Thank goodness I noticed it before too much of the reel was lying on my carpet.

After hand rewinding the film back onto the reel...I repaired the splice with my tape splicer and was back in business. The show must go on! 😎

Never seen in person, just heard similar stories on 35mm projection when the film somehow missed the takeup platters very early on the show. Imagine 10k feet of films lying around on the floor. Yuckkkkkkkkkk

Nantawat I feel fortunate that I caught this about 600 ft. into the reel. I can't imagine the horror of 10K ft. pile of film. OMG!
