  • Frames per second speed question

If a 16 mm projector is running at 18 frames per second silent speed how many feet per minute is that putting out?

i'm working on a project for film projection I'll reveal more information later.....

If anyone can answer my question it will help me determine whether my project will work thanks in advance for any help anyone can give

      18 fps = 1,080 frames per min.

For 16mm films: 40 frames per feet. (can someone verify this?)

So there would be 1,080/40=27 feet per min. for 16mm films.

36 feet would be for sound speed I think.

        Assuming the obvious

        35mm @ 24FPS = 90FT P MIN

        16mm @ 24FPS = 45FT P MIN

        S8mm @ 24FPS = 22.5 FT P MIN

        ?

Here is a film footage table which I use. You can insert your film query for an answer.

Do the more recent 16 mm cameras shoot at 18 fps like for super 8 ? I know the early ones had 16/24 fps as "standard" speeds. Given the number of 16 fps silent films (professional or amateurs) on the market, it's surprising so few "modern" 16 mm projectors allow to run the films at that speed.

The later models of the Bolex H16 will run at 18fps.
