The Bell & Howell 16mm Projector: 1692,93,94,95 and 98
The 1698 is the best one in my opinion, simply because it combines optical and magnetic sound. They are all excellent machines though, providing you make sure the worm gear is good. I have a 1698 in near mint condition and the worm is still good. I always keep it in cool storage conditions, which I believe is paramount to keep it in optimum working order.
I have a 1695 which has been used for public shows for over 20 years. Hospitals, stroke clubs, church guilds, fund raisers...it's done them all. With a decent print it just purrs and the low light choice is adequate for almost everything. New worm gear was put in at the start and, so far, it's never let me down or damaged a print. I have a spare just in case but I think my old favourite will probably see me out.
