  • What To Do About Projector I Cant Power

    Hi All,

So middle last year I got a Bell & Howell 640 16mm projector, but didn't know it had to come with a transformer. At this point I could get one from overseas but will cost way to much and I'm not sure if the projector is actually working. So my question is, how would you repurpose the projector? Just keep it to look nice or what can be done with it. It seems like it is still in good condition from what i can see.

The 640 works on 110 volts AC. It should have a Y lead (motor/lamp & amp). This connects to a suitable transformer. It was the last of the wooden blimp models from 1957. In addiction to optical sound it could run edge striped and full striped magnetic films.

The standard Bell & Howell transformer has an input socket at one end with various input selector screws, the other end has its 110 volts output socket. The transformer is D shaped with a leather carrying handle.

The projection lamp is an A1/53 110 volts, 750 watts. The exciter lamp is a G29, 4 volts, 0.75 amps.

As this is a great projector I suggest you try and get the correct transformer for it, making sure that the two special leads are also in your possession.
