Hello all. I have an ELF 6000 EX xenon pedestal projector. I need a new lamp, and the existing xenon lamp is very expensive to replace, so...I was wondering if it is possible to convert to a standard 15w 250v elc lamp. Your advisement is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Is better to replace with a HID lamp, the xenpow 150w will give you about 3000 lumens on screen and is very cheap, about USD 90 and easy to obtain. A external 150w ballast is needed but is cheapand easy to obtain too, the lamp have a life of 800 hours. Here a link to the lamp that have the same size as a standart halogen lamp. https://www.stagesuperstore.co.uk/xe...amp-4320-p.asp

Hi,
The second option is to put a 36v 400W lamp, it's very cheap and give ou real good result (power, color, screen size). It's cheap, easy to install and don't take much place.
This modification is often made in 35mm projecteur. And since your projecteur is very big it will be very easy to hide the power supply inside the projector.

Hi Mark.
Last year I found myself in the exactly the same position when my xenon lamp exploded and took out the entire lamp house on my Kinoton machine.
After trying just about every lamp known to man and beast, including a 500w LED cob with condenser lens I had pretty much given up trying to find an alternative.
The problem is when you have been used to running films with a xenon lamp, everything else is going to be an anticlimax, as no other light source is going to produce the same intensity and punch that a xenon lamp will deliver.
I was ready to throw in the towel, thinking that I would never get the machine running again when I stumbled across a cheap effects gobo projector on Ebay that had a 300w HTI lamp house.
I managed to knock up a bracket to mount the lamp house on the back of my machine, I know that the projector looks a bit strange with this addition on the back, but it does the job. Any way you are supposed to be watching the movie not the projector.
After a bit of alignment the result is pretty impressive, I know I can't show you a side by side comparison with the original lamp, but the new one fills my 16ft screen even with daylight in the room and comes close to the original xenon lamp but with less power consumption.
If my memory serves me right there should be plenty of room in the EX 6000's lamp house to place one of these small lamp houses inside, and to continue using the projectors dowser mechanism.
It would be a great shame to convert this magnificent EX 6000 over to halogen as I know you would regret it in the long run.
I wish you all the best.
Steve

Jose above gave a link for the HID lamp, and here is a link for its ballast.
Venture Ventronic VYC150255 150 watt Electronic Ballast For HID Lamps (lamps2udirect.com)
That's all you really need, except for some kind of retainer for the lamp. Note that the lamp is already wired. I assume the projector already has a dowser.
My 16mm Bell & Howell 644 was converted for me many years ago and it gives a superb bright white light at 6500 Kelvin. And that's really white.
