  • Filmosound 550

Hello all! New guy here with a request. A friend of mine is sending me his Filmosound 550. I know virtually nothing about projectors but am interested in getting into collecting. My question is: Does this projector use magnetic sound or optical?

The video did not show two important details.

          1) This projector is auto thread. First of all, the film must be trimmed, this is done by inserting it into the slot at the front of the projector and is trimmed by pushing the cutting knob which is on the panel facing you. The lever to the left of the exciter lamp cover is now pushed towards the screen until it engages. This will position the auto thread guides. The motor is now started, and the film is then inserted between the red coloured roller and the green guide below. When the film comes out at the back, stop the motor, gently pull the film which will then disengage the various guides. You can then attach the film to the take-up reel and you're away.

          2) The amplifier control is the white knob below the main control. Turn clockwise to switch on the valve (tube) amplifier which will take a few seconds to warm up. This is also the volume control. The red lever to its left is the tone control which offers three pre-set positions.

Hope you enjoy this projector. I have a similar one which is a 535 which differs in that it is a manual thread model.
