  • Elf burning smell motor stopped

My luck with 16mm projectors is not great. Just bought one off eBay, played a reel then smoke started to rise out of the back and the film gradually ground to a halt. Luckily I switch the lamp off before it burnt it. I looked in the back and there is a white waxy substance that’s melted from the motor. Can anyone tell me what’s happened and is it an easy fix?

Was the Elf a 110v machine? If so and plugging it into a U.K. socket (at 230v) could be the reason it’s blown the motor. I don’t know maybe I’m wrong about that and if so then I’m not sure what it could be.
What model Elf out of curiosity?

Hi Can, it’s and Eiki NT2, it’s ok, the seller is sending me a new motor.

That sounds more like it's come from a burnt out capacitor.
