I am restoring a '47 - '49 era Victor Animatograph 55c. When I say restoring, I really just mean re-caping. The thing is in super shape.
My question is about the differences I'm seeing between the circuit as built and the schematic. A number of the filtering caps are missing in my amp and one of the big power caps was way, way out of spec. (Schematic says 60ufd, cap labled as 20ufd, cap measures out at 40ufd). The big electrolytics looked like replacements to me. They seemed more 60/70 vintage by eye.
What is your folks' experience with these post war amps? Did the build them exactly as designed or just 'good enough'?
