  • Projector Lamps

Can any of you learned chaps tell me of the differences between A1/9 and A1/59 lamps apart from obvious voltage and wattage variations. They look very similar to my eye. I have been searching online to see if I can find some sort of compatibility chart for projector lamps without any success.

They are virtually the same lamp but different wattage.
The A1/9 is 750 watts, and the A1/59 is 1000 watts.
However, there is no discrimination between voltages. They both come either 115-120 volts or 240 volts. This can sometimes catch out a prospective buyer.

Thanks Maurice, I can now use either type in the Bolex, only ensuring the appropriate voltage.

        Yes.
I have a Bolex S321 in which I use the A1/59 (1000watt), but I also have some A1/9 (750watt) which I use if running silent films at 16fps. This is because the ventilation fan might not cope with the slower speed.
